Per the FDA's current guidelines, boiling breast pump parts is unnecessary. But we understand some customers may wish to boil their breast shield assemblies (BSAs), also referred to as flanges, to feel more confident about their cleaning regimen. You can boil the flange body (the part of the BSA that goes against the breast and through which breast milk drains) for 5 minutes each time but the water-filled tubing (between the flange and the puck) will most likely disconnect from the flange body after a certain number of boilings. This is okay, simply reattach the tubing to the flange body as securely as possible while ensuring the gray silicone piece that holds the plug for the fill port, covers the 'barb' which is the piece where the tubing connects to the flange. You can boil the collection cups (aka Classic bottles) for 5 minutes.
In general, we recommend simply washing the breast shield assemblies in warm, soapy water, then rinsing it with warm water and letting it air dry on a clean paper towel or on a drying rack. All the cleaning tips are located in the Naya Smart Breast Pump User Manual.
Putting your BSAs in the dishwasher will void the warranty.
